# Ontology Assets

[**Ontology**](https://ont.io) is an open source public chain project with primary focus on decentralized digital identity and assets. **ONT** and **ONG** are the two native tokens on Ontology that are implementations of the OEP-4 token protocol. **ONT** is a staking tool that acts as a store of value and can be used to perform financial transactions and can be used in **dApps**. **ONG** is the gas token that is used to pay the transaction fees on the Ontology chain. **ONT** and **ONG** have been decoupled in order to alleviate the risk of turbulent fluctuations in transaction fees due to changes in the value of the staking asset.
